If you uncover duplicate content, check the organic traffic for each of your product page variations in Google Analytics. An authority website doesn’t necessarily have to be one of the usual big publishers. If you’re a niche website or blog with high quality, relevant content, you can be as highly regarded as any other source. Keep your descriptions under 150characters to avoid a trail off (…). When you’re looking at a competitor’s web page source code, you’ll see the title tag near the top of the page, along with a bunch of tags used to describe the page’s content. If the site includes it, the meta name= ”keywords” tag should be a few lines below. Both of these contain your competitor’s keywords. Instead of willy-nilly linking to pages from site-wide elements, like the top navigation or the footer, consider the value of the pages that you intend to throw in the navigation. Try to limit your sitewide links to only the 20 percent of your pages that are the most valuable, and pages required for a good user experience.
